Derrick started as an R&D engineer, discovered a passion for project management, built world-class PMO practices at complex biopharma organizations, and eventually led People & Culture at a company through its IPO. That arc — technical, operational, and deeply human — is what he brings to every client engagement.

He's known for attracting and developing talent, building cultures where people feel both accountable and empowered, and bringing clear frameworks to ambiguous situations.

In 2025, he launched Richardson Consulting & Coaching to work with the kinds of organizations and people he believes in most: those committed to growing in ways that are both effective and humane.
